Thomas Henry Huxley

That my personality is the surest thing I know may be true. But the attempt to conceive what it is leads me into mere verbal subtleties. I have champed up all that chaff about the ego and the non-ego, noumena and phenomena, and all the rest of it, too often not to know that in attempting even to think of these questions, the human intellect flounders at once out of its depth...

Jupiter and Saturn

Live and grow.

Life from the subjective perspective is interaction with the world around us. We move, touch, speak, listen; our lungs breath and our hearts beat; and hearts beat in time with each other. We leave our mark on the world.

We make mistakes, and pay the price. We learn from it, and grow.

At best, life is a never-ending learning process with new horizons to strive for every day: exploring on foot into new parts of the outer world; expanding in mind into unexplored territory of subject matter; chasing elusive and exciting new frountiers. Never a moment for boredom. Our human hearts thrive in such a learning environment.

Jupiter symbolizes the best of life in magnanimity and generosity, genius and self-sacrifice. He is the mystic, the explorer and the king. He is the heart swelling with joy of life. If we play the game correctly, cornering the king is the most precious prize.

But life from that other perspective comes along to rain on our parade.

We have limitations. We can only do so much. There is simply not enough time, not enough energy, not enough patience to achieve all that Jupiter would have us gain.

We are limited by circumstance, by fate throwing stones in our path. We are constricted by others, by our respect for them and our love for them, by compromise. We are held back by doubts and fears. We have limited space in which to do our work, and limited time in which to live. We make the best of it. Everyday.

Saturn is the trials of life that test us and buffer us. Saturn is the world that shapes and hones us into a sharp point. And Saturn is the quiet times, when life is still. And we need the quiet times as well.

I've recently been on a diet to lose weight, so I feel well qualified to espouse on this topic. It both restricts me in what I can enjoy and when I can enjoy it, and with every week that passes and every pound lost, frees me to be more 'myself' then I've felt in a long time.

It's good to be Patty.

Wouldn't that be rather smoky?

I have good teas, but please don't post advertisements here again.
